Action Center
Improving public education is one the most important challenges we face today. Many of our schools are succeeding at providing a quality education, but there is still work to be done to ensure that each child receives the education he/she deserves.
The federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law is well intentioned in its effort to improve our schools, but it fails to deliver on its promise to improve public education and penalizes struggling schools instead of providing resources to classrooms to raise student achievement.
With NCLB up for reauthorization in 2007, it is vital that you get involved in the effort to fix NCLB so we can truly improve our public schools. Getting active is as easy as signing up for our e-updates, writing to elected officials, or contributing to the cause. We invite you to join the effort to improve education, learn how below.
Get Involved Today, Here's How:
Write a Letter to the Editor
Your opinions matter. As a concerned citizen who cares about education, it is
important that you make your voice heard. The Opinion page is the most read
section of any newspaper, write a Letter to the Editor to local or national
newspapers and tell everyone how you feel about improving education. Click
here to send an LTE.
Write to officials
Our elected officials need to hear from the public on important matters such
as education. The best way to reach your elected leaders is by writing to them.
We have resources for you to locate the addresses of your elected officials,
from school board members to the U.S. Congress and the White House. Make your
voice heard. Click here to write to your officials.
Post your story
If you have recently become active in your community, either by writing a Letter
to the Editor, attending a School Board meeting, or by participating in one
of the many CQE events, we encourage you to post your story and tell us about
your experience. Let others see that getting active is easy to do. Click
here to post your story.
