New Poll of South Carolina Democrats:
Education at Top of List to Improve Children's Future

WIS-TV in partnership with Communities for Quality Education has conducted a new poll of South Carolina Democratic primary voters to assess voter attitudes and priorities about education policy issues leading up to the Democratic presidential debate and primary.

With 85% of Democratic voters saying the nation is on the wrong track, the focus is on education to turn things around. Two-thirds of all Democratic voters and 70% of the crucial African American voting bloc see providing all children with the opportunity for a quality education as the most important measure to improve the future for American youth.

The poll, conducted by Peter D. Hart Research Associates from April 9 to 12, surveyed 801 likely Democratic primary voters in South Carolina on top domestic priorities and current education issues. This survey is representative of the voters expected to vote in the January 29, 2008, Democratic presidential primary.
