South Carolina Students Share Concerns with State Education Superintendent, Presidential Candidates
In a roundtable discussion sponsored by Communities for Quality Education and State Superintendent of Education Jim Rex, South Carolina high school students asked the Democratic presidential candidates, via a question submitted through YouTube, to address equal opportunity and education funding in the upcoming South Carolina presidential debate to be held on July 23rd in Charleston.
The students gathered at a taped roundtable moderated by Rex to discuss their concerns with the state of education in the country and South Carolina, ranging from No Child Left Behind and preparedness for work or college to student motivation and high teacher quality. After an hour of debate, the students reached consensus on their top priority and taped the question for submission via YouTube to the upcoming South Carolina Democratic debate and a Republican debate in September in Florida.
